NextUp Solutions’ Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) course is a two-day, interactive learning experience that focuses on the role of the Product Owner.
What You’ll Learn
This course starts with an overview of the Agile and Scrum frameworks. From there, the curriculum includes:
- What a Product Owner does
- What to look for in a Product Owner
- Vision, mission and charter
- Product roadmaps and story maps
- Project scope via product backlog
- User stories and Agile specifications
- Prioritization techniques
- Product backlog grooming and splitting user stories
- Estimation and forecasting
- Release planning
- Tracking progress
Upon completion of the course, students will be credentialed as Certified Scrum Product Owners.
Additionally, this course allows students to claim 14 Project Management Institute (PMI)® Professional Development Units (PDUs)* as well as 16 Scrum Alliance Scrum Education Units (SEUs).

The class is great for current Scrum Product Owners, business analysts, ScrumMasters, testers, or anyone involved with creating requirements, gathering needs, and managing products.
Note: The CSPO course assumes that attendees already have a basic understanding of Scrum via our Agile and Scrum in a Day course, Certified ScrumMaster course, or equivalent Scrum experience.

About Your Trainer
Richard Cheng is the Vice President of Training and Chief Product Owner at NextUp Solutions. A graduate of Virginia Tech and renowned Agile expert, Richard has presented keynote talks at conferences and events around the globe, authored publications on Agile and product management, and is a member of Mensa. Richard has extensive experience working with the federal government, large companies, small startups, non-profits organizations, and associations. In addition to being one of the few Certified Scrum Trainers (CST) accredited by the Scrum Alliance, Richard is also a Certified ScrumMaster (CSM), Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO), Certified Scrum Professional (CSP), Certified LeSS Practitioner, Project Management Professional (PMP), PMI Agile Certified Practitioner (PMI-ACP), and SAFe Program Consultant (SPC).
Students submitting cancellation requests 10 business days or more prior to the start of the course are entitled to a full refund. Students submitting cancellation requests less than 10 business days prior to the start of the course will be offered a credit toward a future NextUp Solutions course of equivalent value, or a refund less a processing fee of $100. Should the organizer cancel the course for any reason, each registered student will be issued a full refund.
