Is the US Army Agile? How did US Army Futures Command use agility to get set up, organized, and opened in a little over a year? Are the companies we work for and the organizations we belong to being as agile as they can be? Join the Agile Austin Coaching SIG as Lieutenant Colonel Mike Barker discusses his journey to answer those questions about the Army and looks at answering that question about your organization.
Mike has been iterating for the Army for the last 17 years as an Intelligence Officer. He has been lucky enough to have a front seat to history on several occasions. He was involved in the capture of Saddam Hussein in Iraq in 2003 and managed the most data collection assets in the history of warfare during the surge in Afghanistan in 2011. Recently, he served as the deputy director of Intelligence at Army Futures.
Mike will transition out of the Army having achieved the rank of Lieutenant Colonel in July 2021 after more than 20 years of service. Currently, he earned in a fellowship through Hiring Our Heroes with Rackspace Technology, where he has been increasing his exposure to agility in their Global Data Office Product Team. He loves to chat with folks about how they can be as Agile as they can be whenever he can. When he is not working on refining his personnel backlog or tackling his to do column on his Kanban he can be found working on the Agile Military Transition Template he built on Trello.
