Join us at Agile Fredericksburg as Brad Lehman brings us the talk “How To Give Meaningful Design Critique”
Have you had challenges getting designers and your other team members to speak the same language? Does discussing design get awkward? Have you had issues with design going over the transom without a good idea of what is and is not acceptable?
This is a talk I give to both designers and non-designers to help them have productive conversations during the design and implementation process. It is a guide towards directing discussions around the design of a product in a collaborative and constructive direction, taking into account, both the goal and intended outcomes of the design and the delivery context of the design. I also offer guidance on how to structure and facilitate a design critique, so that your discussions stay on track, and a few pointers on what you might look for in design review to help ensure that you are building a great product.

I began as a front-end coder and spent time as a project manager before shifting full-time into user experience in 2006. Over the course of the past dozen+ years, I’ve held all sorts of titles (Information Architect, Human Factors Engineer, Director of UX), some of which fit the actual work I do better than others.
Presently, I am a Design (UI/UX) Practice Lead for ICF, where I bring design into our agile delivery process and help other designers in our practice do the same. I am also a father, a DJ (takomaradio.org, Tuesday nights at 10pm), an avid reader, and a home coffee roaster. Feel free to ask me about any of these things!
