Business Agility – Pivot or Perish
Marriott used to have the most rental listings, but now it’s AirBnB…and it’s not even close. The taxi company thought their competitors were other taxi companies, but really it became Uber and Lyft. Younger adults are now doing more cash transactions on Venmo than on any other single mobile platform. How does a company like Fujifilm pivot to another profitable line of business when a company like Kodak goes from billions to bankrupt? This talk session explores the concepts of Business Agility, the ability for a company to quickly adapt to market conditions both internally and externally.
This session starts by exploring the need for business agility and uncovers what companies have done to enable it. From there, the talk showcases some of the key concepts that foster business agility. This includes:
• Agile concepts and methods
• Design thinking
• Lean startup
This session is interactive and will have a couple of videos as well. Coming out of this session, attendees will understand the need for business agility and have some tools to help their organizations implement it.
About Your Trainer
Richard Cheng is the Vice President of Training and Chief Product Owner at NextUp Solutions. A graduate of Virginia Tech and renowned Agile expert, Richard has presented keynote talks at conferences and events around the globe, authored publications on Agile and product management, and is a member of Mensa. Richard has extensive experience working with the federal government, large companies, small startups, non-profits organizations, and associations.
