Event Details

THIS IS A REMOTE EVENT – a Zoom URL will be passed the day before (or perhaps the morning of) after registration closes.

This will be a discussion and some practice on using the metaphor the boardgame Clue as a retrospective technique. Some interesting aspects are that it is partially self-paced, and can be hacked up pretty easily. Personally, I have already thought of new hacks to extend the metaphor further.

To give ourselves a common experience to retrospect on, I would like each person planning to attend to introduce some new ritual to your family (or people you live with if you aren’t living with your family). If you live by yourself, make this something you do with the people you virtually visit. Example rituals – if you eat dinner in front of the TV, see if you can take it to the dining room for several times as week. Maybe boardgame nights 2-3 times per week. Building a puzzle… A marathon set of evenings watching a movie series like Harry Potter or Star Wars.

Please also get a free account on Trello. This is used to record items from within the retro. I may actually have 2-3 boards set-up depending on the number of people attending. I also will want a few volunteer co-hosts that can set-up some time to discuss stuff ahead of time (perhaps the evening before for 30 minutes). Please contact me at my addy (first name dot last name).

My colleague, Adam Parker, will discuss another ‘gamified’ retro technique – the Newspaper Retro, which he ran virtually. He’ll share how it went and what he did to make it virtual. YOu can find the Newspaper Retro on
